    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy has openings within our full-time alpine coaching staff for 2024-2025. Based on the growth and momentum of our alpine program we have positions within our U14 through FIS staff. The ideal candidate’s qualities include enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, a desire for personal growth as a coach, and the ability to connect with athletes.

    Compensation is competitive with housing possible. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass and other CVA employee benefits. Applicants must be able to pass and secure a U.S. Ski & Snowboard background check, CPR/First Aid certification, Safesport, etc. This is a great opportunity for a coach who wishes to develop professionally and is looking for mentoring to become the best coach you can be!
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Coaching men and/or women U14 through FIS Alpine athletes
    • Training with athletes 5-6 days a week
    • Providing video analysis of athletes
    • Goal setting for each athlete
    • Planning and managing athlete training & travel
    • Budgeting and reconciling financial costs
    • Traveling for one week, or more, at a time required
    Other Duties
    • Perform requisite number of weekday and weekend dormitory duties required of all faculty and staff
    • Tap into a student’s passion for skiing, love of the outdoors, and willingness to work hard to help each athlete achieve his/her/their personal best

  • Director of Maintenance

    General Information
    Job Title: Director of Maintenance

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Mechanical aptitude.
    • Working knowledge of electrical, heating, and plumbing systems.
    • Carpentry skills.
    • Working knowledge of vehicle operation and maintenance.
    • Experience with plant operation and maintenance.
    • Ability to cooperatively and civilly function as a team member.
    • Ability to pick up a minimum of 60 lbs.
    • Ability to perform snow cleanup of entryways and parking lots during and after a storm. CVA has an outside contractor for snow removal and sanding.
    • Ability to work standing for a minimum of 4 hours.
    • Ability to use computers on a daily basis to maintain records, submit reports, and communicate with all members of the school community.
    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy is currently taking applications for Director of Maintenance. This is a full time year-round benefits eligible position that reports to the Director of Student Services and is responsible for supervising maintenance and custodial staff and subcontractors. The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical plant and all vehicles. The primary objective is to ensure the safety and well-being of the students as well as the related needs of the faculty and staff. The Director interfaces closely and regularly with Teaching, Athletic, and Support staff to assist in the accomplishment of the CVA mission.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Monitors, documents,  and maintains the operation of the heating systems, water systems, water heaters, and electrical systems to ensure safe, uninterrupted operation of the school, as well as taking preventative and corrective measures as needed.
    • Administers contract services for the periodic inspections of the water system, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, boiler systems, and elevator.
    • Ensures that adequate maintenance supplies and housekeeping items are stocked to ensure uninterrupted services.  In addition, the Director is responsible for the purchase of all materials necessary to complete building modifications and improvements.  All purchasing must be done by seeking the best price for the appropriate quality of materials and be done so within established budget constraints.
    • Complies with the State of Maine water testing requirements, maintaining the appropriate certification and providing all samples to the State Lab in a timely manner.
    • Maintains all CVA Vehicles by establishing a scheduled preventive maintenance system and performing regular and frequent vehicle inspections for safety and fluid levels.  Safety and reliability are of utmost importance.
    • Ensure that the grounds are maintained and well cared for.
    • Directs the Maintenance and Custodial Staff to ensure that all buildings are clean and sufficiently stocked.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree is required.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an area of Humanities is preferred.
    • Experience teaching college preparatory high school English is required.
    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy (CVA) has an open position in the Humanities Department for the 2024-25 school year. This position involves teaching middle school and high school-level English Language Arts and History with the potential for additional hours tutoring in our Academic Success Program. Classes range in size from 6-12 students. Teaching at CVA allows the freedom to design and develop the curriculum to best serve the needs of the student-athletes who learn on the go during training and competitions.

    • Teach up to 5 sections (typically 3 courses/preps, some with 2 sections); approximately 15-20 in-class hours per week.
    • Provide prompt grading and feedback for students.

  • Assistant Athletic Trainer

    Job Summary
    Carrabassett Valley Academy has an open position supporting the Athletic Trainer on the Health and Wellness team. This is a full-time position for 9 months (late August - early June) with 2 weeks on campus during the summer.

    Essential Responsibilities
    • Provides professional athletic training services including but not limited to, prevention, recognition, evaluation, assessment, education, immediate care, treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries.
    • Athletic Training organization and administration duties include maintenance of the athletic training facility, inventory of equipment, preparing bids within a budget, detailed and accurate documentation, AED maintenance and communication with parents, patients, staff and physicians.
    •  Serves as a member of the high-performance team requiring good understanding of strength and conditioning, prevention of injuries and an ability to work collaboratively as a team.  Candidate will help set goals for the program and effectively prepare and coordinate dryland schedules based on the team’s goals requiring an ability to be flexible, organized, and multi-task.
    • Ability to make connections with young athletes and work collaboratively with the wellness team, parents and staff.  Must be enthusiastic about helping young athletes grow and be successful.
    Additional Duties:
    • Attends seminars, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
    • Covers shifts as part of a weekday and weekend duty team as per contract defined.
    • Share on-call availability with the Head Athletic Trainer.
    • Potential to serve as the “return to snow” coach.
    • Performs other duties as requested.
